Self Love
“Self-love. It’s not easy. For me it’s been a day to day fight and there are days still where I am just not feeling it.
I’ve been on this self-love journey these last couple of years. I have come a long way and just for that, I’m proud of myself, but I’m still learning. We all are.
I’ve been called names and had some really hurtful things said to me and about me, and honestly that is what would stop me from loving myself.
For a while, as lame as it may sound, I didn’t know I didn’t love myself. It was my fault when things didn’t go to plan, and if I was angry or frustrated, I would redirect all my frustration onto other people, people that I love, when they did nothing wrong.
I've gotten to know myself a lot better. There’s been a lot of growth and a beautiful change. I love and appreciate my vulnerability and accept that I'm not always going to feel 100%.
I also like the fact that self-love requires you to keep it honest with yourself, and take accountability about your decisions, your current situation in life, and how you feel about yourself and others.
With self-love comes self awareness, and what I’ve learned is that if you don’t find a way to love yourself, you’re going to spend a whole lot of your time trying to find it somewhere else, and you don’t want to do that because it’s all within you.
If you really treasure loving yourself and you work on finding out who you are, God will give you so much fulfilment and you won’t be disappointed.
When you love yourself, you can feel it. It’s different and it’s amazing.
Now, it’s about taking back my power and not letting the opinions of others influence what I think about myself.
I love myself; my roots, and everything that makes me who I am”.
