Candles, light & a concert

I love a concert and I love some candles; so why not a candlelight concert.

I heard about these kinds of concerts. I was seeing them quite a bit on social media, and was curious about them and exactly what they consisted of.

This candlelight concert was Taylor Swift inspired and she was one of the first concerts I attended so I feel like that made it extra special. I am such a huge fan of storytelling and great lyrics, and I’ve always felt that one of the best artists that really embodies those two things is Taylor Swift. There was a string quartet and they played a variety of her songs from different albums, and it was really beautiful. The performers were called Ensemble Cherubim and the program consisted of the following:

  • Shake It Off

  • You Belong With Me

  • All Too Well

  • We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

  • Blank Space

  • Cardigan

  • Lover

  • Wildest Dream

  • Love Story

  • The 1

  • Invisible String

  • Enchanted

  • I Knew You Were Trouble

My favourites were: You Belong With Me, Blank Space, Enchanted, All Too Well and of course, Love Story.

I honestly didn’t think I would love it as much as I did, but I was pleasantly surprised and found myself smiling the whole time. Music is definitely something I can’t live without and when I listen to a song I really pay attention to the lyrics and I have always thought that Taylor Swift is an incredible artist and writer.

You felt a vibe as soon as you walked into the cathedral, well not you reading this specifically but you know what I mean. There were fake candles on the side of the chairs that lit up the aisle, and it was hot, but the whole vibe there was so relaxing.

I felt very present during the whole concert. I was taking it all in and when I looked around, I saw everyone else taking in the moment and just enjoying the music, but at the same time I was thinking ‘I want to learn how to play the violin’. People had their phones away for the most part which was nice to see, but we were allowed to record the last song so that’s when everyone got their phones out.

Music is one thing in this world that everyone understands, and I personally love that when I hear a song for the first time I can relate it to an experience that I’ve had, and then you suddenly are able to take a breath because you know that you’re not alone. Often you hear artists and musicians say that when they write a song, they write from personal experience, and it’s kind of like what I’m doing with my blog. I write about what I go through and what I feel, hoping that someone can read it, feel inspired or feel less alone with what they are going through.

Please go check out Ensemble Cherubim. They are amazing!
